HSBI Adjunct Instructor Tracy L. Gray will join Professor Diana Jost in presenting the cognitive development in STEM. Participants will actively engage in 1) problem-solving 2) making planful choices and 3) learning the value and importance of play The activities presented in this workshop will encourage participants to make connections to how children hone their observation skills, find patterns, analyze results, and predict outcomes. Making the connection between cognitive development and scientific thinking will help participants understand essential critical thinking and knowledge development, which helps children learn about and understand the world around them
Tracy L. Gray is a champion of 21st-century learning worldwide who has impacted diverse educational landscapes from Connecticut to China. Beginning as a classroom teacher, Ms. Gray has held pivotal roles at Ethical Culture Fieldston School and The Carey School, focusing on curriculum development and student life. In 2013, she established the Sankofa Global Project, recognized by President Obama’s White House for its STEM education initiatives. Holding dual Master of Science Degrees, Tracy is an adjunct instructor at HSBI Bielefeld University and serves on the board of Science is Elementary. She leads the LeiLyn Group, guiding businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofits through innovative programs.
